Objectives

  • Understand the principles of recognition and measurement of equity and debt securities under French GAAP and IFRS 9.
  • Learn to follow the life cycle of VMOBs, from acquisition to sale or redemption, through the various stages (income, temporary sales, inventory entries).

Contents

8 hours of training, divided into the following sections:

  • Introduction and standards :
    • Fundamentals of WBS, definitions and classifications (equities, bonds and other debt securities).
  • Accounting entries :
    • Purchase accounting: principles and specific features under French GAAP and IFRS 9.
    • Accounting for accrued interest income and dividends received. Inventory entries: depreciation, revaluation, provisions.
    • Temporary sales: understand the various temporary sales operations and the resulting accounting entries.
    • Disposal and/or repayment: terms and conditions of stock removal operations and their impact.
  • Illustrations and case studies :
    • Description of operations
    • Quizzes
    • Case studies to apply accounting schemes

Deliverables

  • Training material (pdf format) and application examples (Excel format)

  • Summary of evaluation questionnaires completed by trained employees
